Dr. Anne Basting of the Peck School of the ArtsTheatre Department will be a keynote speaker on April 11 as part of the 2014 Annual International Conference for the Enhancing Lives Through the Arts & Health in Houston, Texas.
Anne Basting’s work focuses on the potential for arts and humanities to improve the quality of life within the community and as individuals. For over 15 years, she has developed methods for integrating the arts into long-term care, focusing on people with cognitive disabilities like dementia.
The conference provides an opportunity for leaders of the arts and health community to present and discuss both subjects while finding exciting developments from all over the world.
Anne Basting will share the story of her two latest projects, The Penelope Project and Islands of Milwaukee. Both projects reached out to touch individual lives and use the arts to change the systems of care.
