Wisconsin is known for many things: Happy Days, beer and Jeffrey Dahmer. But the dairy state is also home to a plethora of musical talent, including up-and-coming Milwaukee rockers Trapper Schoepp & the Shades. Since being signed to Los Angeles based SideOneDummy in September 2012, the band has rereleased Run, Engine, Run and has toured nationally with the likes of Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons, the Wallflowers and Social Distortion. The Shades are also supporting British rocker Frank Turner during this year's SXSW.
Life as a touring musician isn't always easy for a busy college student, though. While it may be challenging to meet assignment deadlines, having a social life and playing shows across the country, Trapper Schoepp proves that it is possible. Schoepp, a journalism student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, provides insight to how he finds balance between living life on the road and being a college student.
