RACINE — The UW-Milwauke Youth Jazz Ensemble is the next performer in the Artsoulive Concert Series at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The concert will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in McCarthy Hall at St. Patrick’s, 1100 Erie St.
The ensemble is directed by local artist Curt Hanrahan who teaches the jazz studies program as well as saxophone at UW-Milwaukee, a position he has held since 1990. He is the founder of Racine’s Lakeshore Music Conservatory. An avid performer, Hanrahan has played with some of the biggest names in jazz including Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney and Frank Sinatra Jr., to name a few. He has also released three solo albums and recorded with numerous artists including Jack Grassel, Jan Garber, Nick Contorno, Jamie Breiwick and contemporary jazz group, Opus. The concert will feature big band swing music. Attendees will be encouraged to dance. Snacks and refreshments will be available.
