The art world has changed a lot lately.
Artists who once went alone into the studio to make objects are, in increasing numbers, taking to the sidewalks and creating what’s called community art.
If we need any evidence that this trend of making work for the public sphere as opposed to (or in addition to) gallery pedestals is flourishing in Milwaukee, we need only look at the winners of this year’s Mary L. Nohl Fellowship, the most important award for individual artists in the region.
