It is not every day that you sense a loss of advertising. If nothing else, I wouldn’t mind the demise of more of it. But I am really going to miss the brilliant orange, turquoise and black ads for the Milwaukee Film Festival, which draws to a close today.
Designed by Cathy Brautigam, they've been everywhere, on a banner out front at the Hotel Foster, a bar where people went after seeing the films, up on the big screens before the films, on the cover of the program books, and even displayed across our own web site, JSOnline.com.
Brautigam, who got her degree in art education and worked for two major agencies in town, Laughlin Constable and Hoffman York, started her own company called Lone Shoe Graphics about two years ago. Weary of working to promote the products of massive companies, Brautigam wanted to support small, local businesses with her talents.
