Tap Milwaukee
Cream City Soundcheck, a new music series and website established by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Doc UWM media center, is up and running following an official kickoff party last Thursday at Turner Hall.
The site's got a nice, homespun feel to it and some high-quality video content made by UWM film students, featuring local performances and Milwaukee adventures from touring indie bands like Yacht and Generationals. Yacht for instance hopped aboard a charter boat for a tour of Lake Michigan (how appropriate), while Generationals went all over town, to such local gems as Koz's Mini Bowl, Buck Bradley's and Rushmor Records. Local bands Maritime, Kings Go Forth and Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound also appear in the first batch of Cream City Soundcheck videos.
Check out what the series has come up with so far, and be on the look out for more Soundcheck videos featuring local bands The Fatty Acids, Kane Place Record Club and R.A.S. Movement featuring Naima Adedapo.
