MFA alum Sarah Holden, a metalsmith who lives and works in Chicago, is scheduled to participate in an exciting selection of shows during September.
From September 7 to October 5, her sculptural work will be on display at Stamina at the WORK • Detroit gallery. Stamina will embody endurance in the physicality of art making. Whether it is process or product, the work has been created or destroyed by the physical stamina of the body. In addition, Stamina will coincide with the Mid-America College Art Association Conference (MACAA) hosted by Wayne State University in Detroit. For more information, click here.
Sarah will also be performing in Raising Awareness, a collaborative performance project organized by Gabriel Craig and David Huang that will take place at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, Michigan from September 19 to October 7. Raising Awareness is a craft-based performance that will engage the public in the history, process and product of creating metal vessels through the metalsmithing technique of raising: transforming a flat sheet of metal into a three dimensional form. The busy artist will also be teaching two upcoming classes at The Art Center - Highland Park: Lockets and Chains and Hand Tatted Lace. For more information about the classes, click here.
