Soon, users on Twitter could have followers from a completely different planet. A new project called ‘Tweets in Space’ hopes to transmit a stream of tweets to a planet that’s 22 light years way. The planet known as Gliese 667 is ‘Earth-equivalent’ and has the potential to host extraterrestrial life forms.
Tweets in Space is organized by the two artists Scott Kildall and Nathaniel Stern who hope to use a high-powered communication system to beam the messages into space. Tweets with the hashtag #tweetsinspace will be sent to space during a live performance at the Albuquerque Balloon Museum on 21 September, 2012.
